Betesil is an innovative 0.1% betamethasone valerate (BMV) medicated plaster indicated for the treatment of psoriasis and other corticosteroid susceptible skin diseases.
Betesil couples the well-recognised steroidal activity of the betamethasone, the world leading molecule for the topical corticoid treatments, with a high-tech plaster technology resulting in an occlusive dressing with continuous sustained release of the active ingredient. Clinical trials carried out in psoriatic patients demonstrate an higher efficacy of Betesil compared to the BMV cream preparations.
Betesil plaster can be cut to cover exactly the affected area, with a uniform concentration of BMV on the whole lesion (0.03 mg/sqcm) and a reduced risk of excessive absorption and skin atrophy outside the treatment area. Finally, Betesil is transparent for a sustainable aesthetic outcome and devoid of any glue or exceeding material to keep the dresses clean.
The advantages of Betesil may be summarised as follows:
- Higher clinical efficacy compared to the old generation creams, due to the sustained release of BMV in an occlusive dressing
- Improved safety, due to the opportunity for lesion shape-sized cuts to release the active molecule only through the diseased area
- Protection of the affected skin surface against traumas and scratching
- Cleanness, due to absence of glue and oils
- Easiness of use, thanks to simple, once-daily self-application
